Volunteer Growers Help - Growth stages and what needs doing -
- JUST SHOWING THROUGH -    Double Sets of Leaves> Transplanting> Multiple Leaves> Root Pruning & Thinning> Mature seedlings>

At this stage seedlings for some varieties will all come up within a day or so of each other, while others will take  several weeks or even longer to come through.  Some direct sunlight is needed, but make sure those that are still to come have enough  moisture and make sure that they are not allowed the dry out on hot days.  Watch out for pests that take a liking to young leaves. You will probably count your babies every day and note any adverse changes.

Note that the first leaves may be significantly diferent to later sets of leaves, so if it does not look like you expected, don't pull them out yet.

First Leaves

We hope to expand this section to include pictures of each variety as the start to show through. If you are able to assist with good closeup pictures of new seedlings please contact the office.
