Planting and Working Bees

 Thank you for your interest in helping with TreeProject activities. 

 Listed below are the upcoming tree planting days.


                                                       
BBQ lunch provided Vegetarian and Meat. Starting 10 am and finishes 3pm.

Things you will need to bring with you
  • Sturdy shoes or boots – the terrain may vary from rocky hillsides to damp creek lines.
  • Gloves to protect your hands
  • Warm and weatherproof clothing, hat and sunscreen – the weather can be very unpredictable during this time of year, so come prepared for everything!
  • A personal water bottle.

2nd May

Tree Project

Norris Reserve East

Location:  Beside Nolan Reserve, Kew. Mel Ref 2D G11

Access:  Off Studley Park Rd, Kew

Purpose:  To restablish bushland at an important entrance to Yarra Bend Park.


30th May

Tree Project

Westfield South

Location:  On the west side of Merri Creek between Heidelberg Road and Roseneath Street bridges, Fairfield. Mel. Ref. 2D D4

Access:  Via Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield. Park in Yarra Bend Road opposite Park Office and follow the flags to the site

Purpose:  To improve the amenity of the area and provide bird habitat by establishing clumps of indigenous vegetation.


27th June

Chandler Highway Entrance

Location:  Near the junction of Chandler Highway and Yarra Boulevard, Kew. Mel. Ref. 45 B1

Access:  Via Chandler Highway, Kew. Parking in Yarra Boulevard.  

Purpose:  To establish a bushland entrance to Yarra Bend Park at its eastern end.


25th July

Yarra Lookout Site

Location:  Area around and south of Yarra River Lookout near Yarra Bend Golf Course, Fairfield. Mel. Ref. 2D F6

Access:  Via Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield. Park in Yarra Bend Golf Course car park and follow the flags to the site.

Purpose:  To continue establishment of a buffer to the indigenous vegetation along the Yarra River in the Loop Road, west area, and to improve the amentity of the area following the removal of 20 dying oak trees.


29th August

Intrepid Travel

Dights Falls River Flats, Site 5

Location:  An area of river bank and slopes in Kew between Dights Falls and Studley Park Road Mel. Ref. 2D B6

Access:  Via Studley Park Road, Kew. Parking near Studley Park Road, Mel. Ref. 2D D8, then follow flags to the site.  

Purpose:  To re-establish indigenous vegetation on the banks of the Yarra River, replacing recently removed exotic vegetation.
