If you construct or set up your own bench, please ensure that it is sturdy enough to carry the weight of the boxes. A kit of 7 boxes can weight around 80 kilograms. A wobbly or unsecured bench could fall on children and pets, potentially causing injury.

We all need somewhere to put our boxes of seedlings. A comfortable working height is usefull as attention at frequent intervals will be required. In addition there needs to be a good airflow under the boxes. We may also need to shift the boxes in out of shade as growth demands. Portable or alternative benches may be needed.

Growers are an imaginative lot,  if you have any others let us know (with pictures) and we might  even add them to the list.

Bench 1
Using two builders trestles and some boards will give a good working height. The overhead frame supports a spray system.
Bench 2 Three old metal bed frames, one for legs, one for base, one for struts and supporting the watering sprays, holds seven boxes. Because of the weight of the boxes an additional strut has been put across the middle of the bench. In this case  wire netting over the boxes should keep the possums away.

If you are lucky the bed will also suport tubes for aerial root pruning

Send your pictures  if you have any other suggestions.
